Today's Lunch

What to eat? What to eat? The kids were having ham and cheese. I don't like sandwhiches that much but all the stuff was out so I thought I'd doctor mine up a bit and grill it. The kids finished their lunches and we were off to get ready for nap. Stripping of the clothes, finding stuffed animals, getting water, laying down, etc, etc. As I was laying by Wyatt my stomach growled and I thought, "Man, I'm hungry. What to eat? What to eat?" And then it dawned on me. I'd already had this conversation and there was a sandwhich on the stove as "we" speak.

Here's my lunch.
Let me just say that I expected to see flames when I ran into the kitchen. Luckily it was just smoking.
I'm back to "what to eat?" again.

That is the most crunchy looking sandwich ever! I guess if you just tried to scrape off the black stuff, you'd probably scrape off the entire piece of bread. :)
Looks like part of it is missing...did you actually try to eat that sandwich?

Well, I thought about eating it. To be totally honest, I tried a bite, but it tasted like smoke. I'm still trying to figure out what to eat. Maybe I'll just skip lunch. It is 2:30 and lunch just doesn't seem to be working out. Better luck tomorrow. ACTUALLY, better luck with dinner!

I'm just glad you had your wits about you and took a moment to photograph the poor thing! :)
My grilled sandwitches come out looking like this all the time - that's what happens when we mulit - task!

That is a totally edible sandwich. Just scrape off the burnt bread and chow down. No way I waste ham and cheese.

I'm kinda sad that there wasn't any flames... because I know how you handle flames. What do we do? We stand there looking at the toaster oven exploding with flames, questioning each other about what we should do. Should we get water? hmm.. I don't know, if its a grease fire that could just spread it.. Baking soda? I don't know.. maybe... hmm.. wow its really on fire.. :-)

Ya wanna know what's funny, Jord? On my quick, frantic run from the bedroom to the kitchen I was thinking to myself..."What do I do if I see flames? Water, baking soda, water, baking soda????" I never did decide. Glad it was just smokin'! :) Thanks for the reminder. I forgot about that. That was hilarious.

When Camryn was a baby I used a manual bf pump when I went back to work (I know that alone is crazy). In order to truly sterilize and clean it you had to boil the parts in water and vinegar. Without fail, I would set the pan on the stove, read her a book and put her down for a nap and 1/2 hour or so later a burning plastics aroma would fill the house. We laugh because I had purchased the manual pump to save money; in the end with successfully "cooking" 3 different replacement parts and one night needing to get an "emergency" replacement pump I spent more than I ever would have! So reading your sandwich story made me feel good...I am not alone in the Mommy multi-tasking arena! :)
