Easton William Wagner

He's here! I know you all thought he would never come, so did I, but finally he has arrived. My midwife told me Wednesday after my check that I just didn't look very ready. Only dilated to a 1 and "firm" (sorry if that is TMI....this may not be the post for you!). So I left thinking, "Okay, no baby today...or probably tomorrow....but maybe before the week is over." I was just 4 days past my due date (which felt more like 4 years). So we all ran some errands and stayed out a bit too late and came home to put the kids to bed (just before 8) when my water broke. Slowly but surely, my water was leaking and we instantly shifted gears. I guess we are having a baby tonight! I called the midwife, she had me go for a swift walk to see if I could start contractions and Rand ran out to fetch my birthing tub (from a friend's) and some castor oil (just in case). After 2 hours contractions hadn't really started so I had to do the castor oil thing. At 10:30pm I drank 3oz in a cup of orange juice with a bit of baking soda....SICK! I was sent to bed to wait for contractions or "other things" (side effects of the castor oil) to wake me up. Seriously, how are you supposed to sleep??? So contractions were becoming regular and a tad hard at 11 so I got up and just started writing them down and timing them. Around 12:30am they really picked up...along with the "other things" and everything got much more intense. I called my midwife and she headed over, along with my parents and a handful of friends who wanted to be here and then it was all super fast. I moved to my room, labored mostly on an exercise ball (by far the most comfortable way to labor for me. I layed down through one and got right back up because it felt so bad) while Rand got the tub all ready. The midwife checked me and I was a 5 (pretty good considering how I looked earlier in the afternoon!) and after things picked up a bit I got in the tub. I had Wyatt this exact same way. The warm water feels so good, but man it gets hard fast! I think I had 3 major contractions in the water and then pushed through 1 and a half more and he was born. I don't think I was in that tub longer than 15 mins. 3:04 am BABY!
He weighed only 7lbs 14oz which I just can't believe considering we were almost 41 weeks. Brendan weighed 8lbs 15oz @39 weeks and Wyatt weighed 9lbs 1oz @ 40weeks, so I was expecting hefty britches! He is just sweet as can be. He was super alert and super calm and didn't cry a bit....even when they stuck him in the leg with Vit. K. He didn't cry on the scale, he just looked around as peaceful as can be. He's just the sweetest. Last night (our first night) he had a bit of trouble between 9 and 2 with tummy issues and not wanting to sleep, but then fell asleep at 2:30 and we slept until 7:30. I'm nursing often, often during the day and keeping him awake in the evenings to make sure he gets those days and nights in the right place. So far so good. The midwife came this afternoon. He's only lost 4oz and looks great!
So now we're here.....on the other side....NOT pregnant. It's great!
