I have to say, Spring over here in Pennsylvania is really awesome. The amount of blooming trees along with the contrast of such a gray, dead winter makes Spring over here amazing! I have been enjoying watching life
explode from the landscape. The NW stays so green all year round. In the winter
here...everything dies. Even the grass is brown. There is no green on the trees. There is no brush growing in the woods. It's very strange. But with Spring comes insane amounts of new life and crazy, amazing blooming color....everywhere! Every time I look out the window, or go for a drive I just feel great relief. Everything is soft again. It's been rainy the last few days, and I'm fine with that. After all, I'm not in Washington anymore, anticipating a rainy, frustrating next few months. The rain here comes and goes quickly...not as quickly as Arizona, but quick enough! :) Plus with the rain, I haven't had to water my vegetable garden...which I foolishly placed in the back corner of my huge yard and have no way of getting water back there except by bucket. I need a rain barrel! Or I need about 700 feet of hose! :)
Dogwoods are EV.RY.WHERE. We have them in the NW, but nothing like this. Hence the upcoming Dogwood Festival. (I haven't experienced it yet, but from what I can tell, it is similar to Shelton's Forest Festival)
We had a little petal fight.
Now for the Garden.

Cucumbers again. I think I'm going to need to thin those.
Lettuce is showing, but not as impressively. Tomato plants aren't in the ground yet, and there's barely a sign of the carrots. I guess the hot weather and then the rain, rain, rain, is working for them. Let's hope I can keep up with the watering this summer!

No, the dogwoods aren't on my property. They are on the property of the National Christian Conference Center in Valley Forge, PA. I wish! :) I don't know where you live, but around here those Dogwoods are everywhere. Must be the perfect climate for them!
We live in the Bay Area. Did I read that your husband is a Pastor? Do you live on the National Christian Conference Center? I've never been to PA. I didn't read much of your blog, I was checking out the beautiful pictures...did you say you lived in Portland too? Were you at a church there? The dogwoods are gorgeous right now. Wish the flowers lasted longer though. petal fights are fun, but the trees are prettier!

I'm really excited that the dogwood in our yard is at it's best this year! I should take a picture before it fades away. We took two smallish douglas fir trees off the edge of our yard the other day. We needed to let more sun in for our grass to grow (something other than moss). When the trees were gone we found out there was ANOTHER dogwood really needing some sunshine too. I can't wait for it to flourish now that it has light and space!
Wow, needing light and space to flourish just made me think of how we Christians need the same thing.
Funny how God just flicks the switch and we are able to go, ah haa...I think I'll go "think" some more. :)

The trees are so pretty! I have a lot to look forward to. You're brave for planting a garden, I'm too chicken. The furthest I'll be going with a "garden" is buying some planters and flower seeds today while I'm at Lowes, lol.
